SUBJECT: Why E-Mail Marketing Is Easier For
Copywriters (3 of 4)

Now, if you have experience with affiliate
marketing, youre probably familiar with the idea
of email marketing for commissions providing
long-term recommendations for profit down the
line.

Thats great, but for THIS business, the only
product is YOU. Either people are going to buy, or
theyre going to lose out. Its a great way to
provide extra focus to your work.

So if youre smart (and you ARE smart) then you
KNOW you need to get started with the
autoresponder.

This is one of the first things you should do.

Maybe even before you start promoting your
website! Its going to hook your visitors right
away, and you dont have to risk losing anybody.

Heres a list of steps youll need to take to get
started.

They can be a pain to set up, but remember that
youll only need to set things up ONCE and then
youre set forever.

FIRST: Join an Email Marketing Service
Pick a company to maintain your email list. Aweber
and GetResponse are the most popular ones, and
they both have $1 options for your first month.
More importantly, your emails are going into the
inbox, not the spam folder.

SECOND: Fiddle With Your Information
Once youve signed up, enter the account.
Add your website information, your contact
information and the name of your list.

Youll also need to confirm your FROM email
address.

Its also a wise idea to add a little flair to
your from field. Something like a pound sign or
bracket before your name will help you stand out
if your prospects inbox is flooded.

You will also need to create a thank you page on
your website. Use a custom page its a great way
to keep people on your website and ask them to
contact you.

THIRD: Create Your Follow-up Sequence
GetResponse calls it a follow-up, Aweber calls it
an autoresponder.

You can call it The Money Machine.

This is your chance to make sure that all your new
subscribers are on the same page and understand
the value you can provide.

This is a chance to give your strongest and most
useful tips for your target audience. It might be
a series on how to hire a copywriter, or how to
write headlines, or how to write better email copy
or a better converting website.

You can set an ordered timetable for delivery, so
send something every 2-3 days.

FOURTH: Create a Web Form for Visitors
Itll be very easy to plug this into most
websites, especially if youre using a platform
like Wordpress for your website. Make a nice
looking form and stick it on your home page. You
can ask for a name and email address, but you can
also ask for a phone number and their specific
problem. This makes it easier for you to have a
heads-up when you have deeper contact with a
prospect.

FIFTH: Give Them A Reason To Get In
Very few business owners are going to just hop on
your mailing list for no reason. Make sure that
youve provided them with some incentive that will
improve their business. Whether its a guide on
hiring out, or some small but helpful tweaks they
can use to improve things for themselves, a little
value can go a long way.

If your autoresponder sequence has a single,
consistent theme, you can even make the sequence
itself a giveaway by advertising it as an
eCourse thats a good way to get started if
youre desperate for time.
